He had been meditating for over an hour, and a half. Normally, he would be off the floor, half the room up in the air with him, as the holocrons he had read dictated, but he was concentrating now. Concentrating harder than he normally had to. He followed the ebs, and flows of the Force, following their current along his own presence, and path. The swath of pain, fear, and death he had caused was marked in the force, like red splotches, and lines shot through a gray cloud. He followed his current, tracing it from begining, to what he knew was the end. In the moment he tried to feel what that end was, tried to make the Force reveal his fate, he recieved a vision. It was more jumbled, and cloudier than the visions he recieved in the past, it was like his entire life was playing before his eyes at an ever increasing speed, and then he saw it, clear as day, what would happen if he continued on his present path, blind to anything but power, and ambition.

As abruptly as it had began, the vision ceased, leaving him confused, and troubled. But one thing was clear. Avaritus needed direction. He needed a clear goal, not just more power. Not just an ambition to be Emperor of the Empire. As he stood, he made a mental note to think on that later in the day. For now, he wanted to clear his mind in the only way that truly worked. Combat. Collecting his lightsaber, Avaritus made his way to the door of his quarters, and entered into the vast corridor behind it. As usual, ship techs, and officers strode at quick paces. They radiated a sense of unthinking purpose, and duty. For a brief moment, he wished his life was as simple as theirs, but quickly pushed it to the side. He was a Sith, and no one said that being was going to be easy.

As he made his way down the corridor, he accessed a turbo-lift, and rode it down to a few levels below the one he was on. The training room was on this level, and in it, was the man he would spar with. The presence, as usual, was brooding, cold, and calculating. Yet it barely contained the murderous intent that Avaritus could feel from any point on the ship. As he stepped toward the door, he pushed all of his thoughts about his vision to the back of his mind, and focused on clearing his mind. If the man sensed any weakness, he would exploit it.

In the few seconds it took to reach the door, Avaritus' mind centered on one thing now, Carnor Jax, and how to handle him. Their last fight had taught him a lot, had driven home how weak he was. But in the past year, he had trained every day, trained on his own time, and trained with the Soverign Protectors that Jax trained, learning everything about their combat styles, their philosophy. He needed to prove to himself that he could at least come to a draw with this man, who oddly enough, he respected. Avaritus found it strange that he had respect for a man who had nearly scared him for life in their last battle, but he did. Avaritus knew that if he was to prove to himself that he was a real Sith, that he would at least have to come to a draw with this man, or his training would be for nothing. Even if Avaritus couldn't beat Jax now, he could learn from this experiance. If he didn't... He was useless to the Empire.

Looking at Jax, now, the Soverign Protector was elevated off the ground by a few meters, and four adegan crystals orbiting him. Stepping closer, Avaritus said in his cold, laconic voice, a smile creeping over his face "Soverign Protector. I was wondering if you felt like having a sparring match."

Jax wore black silk pants, cinched at the waist and ankles, and nothing else. The lightsabers he weilded were laid in his lap, and he did not turn to Avaritus, or acknowledge him for a long moment. Finally, the crystels suddenly flew wide and landed gently in a small niche in the side of the wall. He cracked his neck slightly, smiling as he ran his thumbs over the blackened durasteel of his lightsaber hilts.

"You have spent much time with my brothers, Lord Avaritus. You have learned Echani better than virtually anyone in the Brotherhood. Add to that your extensive knowledge of the Force, and you have become a fearsome opponent indeed."

Jax turned to face Avaritus, short-cropped brown hair seeming to glow in the artificial light. His face was creased with care and time, but his body seemed to beong to a man half his age. The gentle contours of his muscles only hinted at the power they could focus, the flex of his tendons only whispering at the speed that could be summoned at a moments notice. He walked to Avaritus, pausing three meters away from him.

"However, what you ask for is not a spar. What you ask is a rematch of our duel a year and a half ago." He studied the Sith Lord's face carefully, the silence ringing tersely in the training area. "You still lack focus, but my bretheren have taught you well. Your patience has increased manifold... it will be interesting to see how much you have applied."

He took two steps back, then bowed slightly as he crossed his arms in a pharonic death pose. Twin silver blades erupted from the plain durasteel tubes encased in his fists, then spun to a Soresu low-mid guard. No hint of Jax's thoughts showed on the Sovereign Protector's face as he watched Avaritus, waiting...

Avaritus stood, accepting the man's evaluation silently. He was right, of course. Avaritus was looking for a re-match, and it seemed that Jax was eager to give him one. Avaritus unclipped his saber from his belt, immersing himself in the Force, calling it forth to be his tool. He could use rage to fuel his power, but not in this fight, he needed finesse, not sheer power. He settled into a deadly calm, and let the Force cascade over him in waves, bringing him into a battle ready state. He knew that Jax would not make the first move. He would wait patiently, observing Avaritus until the crucial moment, until the battle began. He had no choice, if the battle was to begin, he would have to strike, and control the duel.

He would have to strike so ferociously, that Carnor would constantly be on the defensive, but he knew there were dangers in that route as well, as witnessed by their last duel. Carnor knew where he could win, and where he could lose, and he baited Avaritus into a situation where he could win last time, and Avaritus had strode gleefully into the trap. He wouldn't make the same mistake twice.

His knowledge of the Force was on his side, as he had a better grip than Jax on the Force for use in battles. At least that was how it was last time. Avaritus would reserve his judgment on that until he could test it.

And then it came to him. He felt the current of the force flow in Jax's direction, and knew this was the time to strike. In an instant, Avaritus had closed the gap between them, in one powerful movement of his left leg. Activating his saber, he struck, slipping into Makashi, one of the styles he had trained with exstensively. As his saber contacted Jax's he kept his focus on the saber duel, but, without even a hand motion sent a powerful surge of the force towards the man, and pressed his attack with the cold effeciancy of Makashi.

Jax watched Avaritus as he activated his lightsaber, and began to immerse himself in the Force. He watched as the situation became as a gemstone, lined with cracks of possiblity and fault lines of uncertainty. They began to feather out towards indefinite conclusions as Avaritus drew his power. This was good: he was learning not to focus on one way to win. The training with his brothers had certainly helped him.

Suddenly, a huge fault suddenly ran through a previously unobstructed occurance in space and time, and an instinctive upward parry with his left blade intercepted the precisely lethal blow of the Makashi slash. Even as Jax whirled to issue his counter-attack, the crystal suddenly trembled as a surge of the Force picked the Sovereign Protector up like a tidal wave. The impact disoriented Jax only for a bare moment, and instinctively he recoiled himself.

As he flew back, the crystal became clear once more, fault lines once again criscrossing his vision. His feet contacted the durasteel wall. Jax's perceptions followed a particularly dark fault line. His knees buckled, absorbing the impact while shifting his body weight to reverse the inertia. The perception opened to a point of intersection in the flaws. Jax's instincts kicked him off the wall, propelling him at the fight with a newbound fury.

There.

A surge of the Force brought the darkness of those faults looming in his vision, telling him exactly where to place his blades. How to move. How to cut.

Subtly altering his body frame, he transformed the air currents passing over his muscles to that of an inverted airfoil, forced himself to the floor sooner than he should have and, curling into a ball, skimmed the floor once. His feet pushed out, propelling him forward faster still while at the same time forcing him up. Jax's body maneuvered into an inverted cross, lightsabers extended wide to his left and right. The right blade snaped out with a flick of the wrist at Avaritus' neck.

Now.

Another nudge of the Force brought his inverted body into a vertical spin, the left blade snapping around and aiming to cleave the Sith Lord in two from crotch to skull. The blades were powered down enough, of course, to not cause death, but the sensations would hurt just as much as they had those months ago.

Avaritus sensed what was happening, but Jax's sheer speed would keep him from blocking. Instead of manuevering to block the attack, Avaritus focused as much power as he could in the split-second, and send an explosive shock wave of pure force into the space between him, and Jax. He winced as he felt the heat of Jax's saber near his neck, as the two flew apart, and the floor where they had been standing buckeled. In the next milisecond, he slammed into the wall behind him, and landing on his feet, shaking slightly.

Avaritus hated that he had to use such a self-damaging tactic to evade the blows, but it had to be done. The lightsaber Jax had aimed at his crotch didn't come close, but the one near his neck did, and he could smell the singed hairs. He would not let that happen again. Jax, who didn't have a wall so close to him, had time to correct himself mid-air, and landed on his feet. It was time to get serious, and Avaritus knew it. He could no longer hold back, and save his tactics for later. Switching off his saber, he called fully upon the force, he drew on it so much that his body began to tingle from the stress, and then he launched himself at Jax with all the speed he could gather, closing the gap between them in an instant.

As he closed the distance, Avaritus called upon his training, and began using elements of Echani, Trakata, and Makashi, blended together like an elegant dance, activating, and de-activating his saber as it contacted Jax's, sending kicks, and moving to the flow of the Force. His movements were no longer thought out, but products of his instinct, and connection with the Force, the speed at which he struck even he could no longer gague. In an instant, Avaritus found himself exploiting an opening before it appeared, and saw his lightsaber pass through Jax's guard just as it opened, thrusting towards the man's lower right rib-cage. If the lightsaber connected, it wouldn't cut anything, but it would sure as hell sting on bare flesh.

Jax watched Avaritus from afar, that jewel sparkling with the fault lines of possibility. The Force began to roil around the Sith Lord, becoming thick in the air, and Jax brought himself to a low guard in preparation for what was to come. Suddenly, as Avaritus launched forward, time seemed to slow for them both. Jax could count the number of hairs Avaritus had missed when shaving this morning, and Avaritus could read the fine lines of Jax's age in the corners of his eyes.

The lightsabers in Jax's hands, seemingly of their own accord, shortened to the length of long daggers. The hilts flipped so the blades were parallel to the Sovereign Protector's forearms, and he met Avaritus in the middle of the room, calling upon the Dance with Death.

The technique was rare, known as a Krayt Dance, and was among the most elegantly deadly dances the Sovereign Protector had ever witnessed in his travels. Almost detatched, Jax flowed through the rhythym set by the beat of Avaritus' attacks, sabers contacting each other for the briefest of moments before one or the other was deactivated, only to spring anew. Echani met Echani, Trakata met Teras Kasi, and Makashi met Soresu in an elegant blend of forms seen only in the most ancient of Jedi traditions. To a knowledgable onlooker, it was almost beautiful to behold.

But then Jax missed a step, and parried when a ripost would have been appropriate. By instinct he knew, before even looking down, that Avaritus had known of the flaw and was seeking to take advantage of it. A simple matter to take care of, though. His feet spreading wide, his lightsabers flipped up and disingaged, his wrists crossing. Catching Avaritus' hand at junction of flesh, he used the leverage to guide the saber down, between his legs, and to provide a counterpoint for a rather splendid reversal.

From seemingly nowhere, while Avaritus' wrist was still occupied by Jax's own parry, his left foot would streak out of thin air, blurring as it wheeled around in an aimed vicious strike to the Sith Lord's temple.

Avaritus sensed the kick, but it was too late to evade, so he did all he could to maximize damage to Jax as well, as he shot out his foot in a force-assisted kick into the man's ribs, as Jax's foot contacted his temple, sending him sprawling. Regaining his composure after a few seconds, he tried to ignore the splitting pain in his head, and the blood trickleing down the side of his face. He felt unconciousness try and take hold, but kept himself concious with the exercises he had learned at Yinchorr. Annoyed, he knew that head wounds bled profusely, and having a constant stream of it running down his face would be distracting. Jax looked like he had sustained as much injury as he had, but without bleeding.

Avaritus knew what he had to do, and brought his activated saber up to his temple, and positioned it close enough where the searing heat cautarized the wound. Grimacing, he called upon the Force again, stabilizing himself. He couldn't stand another injury like that one.

Steadying himself yet again, he called upon the Force as much as he felt safe, and launched himself yet again towards Jax, but this time at the last second, shoved off on his left foot, propelling him to the right, and using the force to swing him to the man's side, attacking yet again with his combination of Echani, and Trakata, but this time, he mixed in elements of Soresu, attempting to throw the man off. This fight had to end soon, as he was sure they were both getting extremly winded.

Jax stumbled back with the ferocity of the kick. The Sith Lord had indeed learned much, in not trying to deflect an attack that knew would connect... but the power he was able to summon in that last instant surprised the Sovereign Protector. Sinking to one knee, he felt over his ribs for any signs of breaking. A soft touch to them revealed that two were cracked, and that two more were bruised. Jax smiled grimly - they were balanced indeed.

This time, though, Jax woudl take a different approach. With a single indrawn breath, he summoned the darkest recesses of power from his soul, and from the galaxy around him. He drew himself up, th eForce rolling around him like a tornado, lightning crackling at the fringes seeking a target to strike. And Avaritus was there, a durasteel discharge rod waiting to be hit.

Suddenly, Avaritus launched forward. Jax smiled grimly and watched the atack come. The crystal of his perception watches as a flaw began to form to the right, then suddenly exploding into a fracture at the left. Jax moved, already anticipating and reacting, and matched the new Soresu element of Avaritus' attack with the most vicious of lightsaber techniques, so deadly and so fast that both the former Emperor Palpatine and the Jedi Swordmaster Mace Windu used forms of the same technique.

Vaapad filled Jax's muscles, and with the lightning strikes and even faster rippostes met Avaritus' attack strike for strike. The longer the battle went, the faster the attacks came, until they were encapsulated in silver and red light, pulsing and moving across the training floor. Neither could get a foothold on the other, and there they stood, lightsabers whirling and flashing as each sought a toehold against the others defenses.

Avaritus could feel himself weakening now, and knew Carnor was feeling the same. The sheer ferocity of the man's attacks was keeping him on the defensive, except for a few strikes, and thrusts. Even though he felt weak, his body didn't seem to register the change, as his hands manipulated the weapon in his hand on instinct, and the force, and his body, and feet moved with the flow of the battle, never breaking stride, nor rythm, both of them attacking, and countering flawlessly.

But he knew he couldn't keep this up forever, and eventually one of them would slip up, but he couldn't sense when that would be. Only the Force would reveal the answer, so he called upon the Force once more, body tingleing, and continued his attack. Yes, one of them would slip up, and what a spectacular mistake it would be for the one who did.

Jax let his body move of its own accord, directed by the Force that Avaritus was manipulating, using the Sith Lord's knowledge of his own attacks be is downfall, wile at the same time his own fatigue beginning to set in, Idly, Jax wondered how long it had been since a battle had caused the strain on him that this one was.

Suddenly, there was an opening, and Jax could not believe what he saw... that the flaw was not in his foe, but in himself. Avaritus was weakening, but Jax could not keep the duel up for long enough to get Avaritus to crack. The Sovereign Protector pushed the knowledge deep, before Avartius could sense it, and with a sudden clash of sabers, his two crossed against an overhand strike made by the Sith Lord, Jax planted his foot and backflipped high, and away, landing next to the training room door.

"You have learned well, Avaritus... shall we call it a draw?"

Avaritus de-activated his saber, and clipped it back onto his belt. Breathing heavily, as he felt his adrenaline begin to drain, he said, "Indeed." Walking to the training room door, he turned to Jax, gave a slight bow of his head, as much recognition as he had ever given anyone, and said, "Thanks for the re-match."

He then left for his quarters. He required a shower, and some rest. He had a rough training session planned for tommorow.

Another day, thought Avaritus, as he moved out of bed. He felt fully rested from the night before. He didn't go to sleep. He entered a healing trance, that he learned of from Vader. It was quite usefull for healing wounds, and sore muscles. As he stood, he stretched his muscles, which were, unsuprisingly, still a bit sore from yesterday. That was the most intense battle he had ever been in, and a 7 hour healing trance would not remove all effects completly.

Sighing, he knew he had to begin his new training today, he knew it would help him, but knowing that didn't help ease his feelings about it. It would be dangerous as he upped the challenges, and he could easily die if hit in the wrong spot. He also needed the best troopers for the job, and that meant speaking with Jax. He wondered how the man would react today. As he was just about to exit his room, his stomach rumbled, and he cursed himself for not eating last night. He was so tired, hunger didn't even register. Walking to his kitchen, he found a ration bar, grabbed it, and headed for his door. The food tasted horrible, but it was quick, and supplied all the needed nutrients a human body needed. He still wondered why the military couldn't add a better flavor, but decided thinking about the food only made it taste worse.

Leaving his room, he collected his lightsaber, and clipped it onto his belt, once again. He didn't need to actively search out Jax now, or follow his presence. He knew where the man was. In the training room. Making his way to the turbolift, he descended the few levels to the training deck, and made his way to the room. Like yesterday, Jax was in the same position, levitating himself from the ground, four Adegan crystals orbiting him like last time. Avaritus walked in, and stood a few feet from the man, leaning up against the wall.

Sighing again, he wondered if Carnor would let him use his Crimson Guard as training tools again. Last time Avaritus had trained like this with the Guard, one had ended up dead, and several others injured. He didn't mean to kill the one. Clearing his throat, he knew it wouldn't hurt to ask.

"Hello Jax," said Avaritus in his normally cold tone, then getting right to the point said, "I need Crimson Guard for my training today, and the next week or so. Fifteen, or twenty. Since you command them, I need your approval. Do I have it?"

Jax kept his eyes closed, the crystals orbiting him in electron fashion around his lotus position. Avaritus' words reached him, as though heard at the bottom of a deep well. The crystals continued to orbit, though at a slightly slower pace as the Sovereign Protector considered.

"I trust, Lord Avaritus, that you have learned to control your strikes better... you have permission to train with as many of my bretheren as necessary, though if any of them come back with debilitating injuries, I will personally take their cost out of your hide. Do I make myself clear?"

"That would depend on how well trained they are. I'm not going to be engaging in combat with them, but they will engage me," said Avaritus opening a channel to the ship barracks, and ordering twenty Crimson Guard to the training room.

Moving to the center of the room, Avaritus waited, meditating, readying his mind, and body for what was to come. Four minutes later, twenty fully armoed Crimson Guard marched into the training room, DC-17m's in hand. The group looked around, surveying the room, looking first to Jax, and then to Avaritus. He could feel their suspicions rising, as he came to his feet, and walked over to them. He wondered if Jax would stay in the room, and continue to meditate through the sound of constant blaster fire.

Standing in front of the group, he said, "Crimson Guard, I called you to this training room so you could assist me. I'm going to the center of the room. Set your rifles to fire PEP lasers. Get into whatever fireing positions you're comfortable with, and beging fireing at me five at a time. I'll tell you when to increase the number of individuals fireing. Understood?"

"Yes sir," the men responded, spreading out around the room in a box formation.

Avaritus moved into the center of the room, yet again, immersing himself in the Force, closing his eyes, and calling the room into focus in his mind. As he did, time slowed around him. He could hear the breathing of the men through their masks, hear the buzz of the glow panels above them, could sense the growing tension in the room. He could feel the hairs on the back of his neck start to prickle with an overwhelming sense of danger from the Force. He could feel the intent of every Guard in the room, the intent to shoot him. He then felt the burning sensation in his right shoulder, the Force telling him where the first shot would go, mere seconds before it was fired, then he felt the next, and the next. They would fire miliseconds apart.

Avaritus erupted into motion, rolling to the side, as three bolts passed through the space he had just occupied, he then back flipped from his crouched position as two Crimson Guard in front of him opened fire, the bolts narrowly passing over his chest while in mid-air. As he landed, he leaned to the right, a bolt aimed at his left shoulder slammed into the wall in front of him. He wasn't dodging the bolts so much, as he was dodging the aim of the Crimson Guard. He could tell when they were going to open fire, and moved miliseconds before they pulled the trigger, leavingf enough time for him to dodge, but not enough for them to correct their aim. This continued for thirty seconds, then Avaritus called for five more to join. He was used to narrowly avoiding the bolts now, never staying still for more than a few miliseconds. He then called five more a minute later. He was wearing down now, fifteen Crimson Guard pumping laser fired at him, none of their bolts finding their mark.

Roll, jump, backflip, lean, duck. The rythm was fast, but he kept with it, constantly evading the fire. As this went on, it kept getting harder. The Crimson Guard were now co-ordinating their fire, fireing where they thought he was going to move, but there was always one opening availible to him, but it took extra concentration to know where that opening would be. After two minutes of co-ordinated from the fifteen Crimson Guard, he felt his opening, but winced in pain, as he was slammed to the mat, his shoulder hurting. A PEP laser had found it's mark. The Guards stopped their fireing, and stood at attention.

Shaking his head, Avaritus stood, and moved over to the side of the room, telling them to relax for a while. He needed to meditate. Needed to go over what he had learned through the training.

High above the confronatation, Jax's Force perceptions took in the actions of his bretheren, the Crimson Guard. He felt their thoughts, homing on Avaritus' reflexes as the scarlet-clad guardians fired on him. He was mildly impressed at the way he was able to guide the Guard to where he wanted them, subtle altering the aim of one or two of them to allow him an opening.

As the battle progresed, his eyes opened to a network of fault lines in the crystal of reality. He watched as one grew steadily: Avaritus' cponcentration. He watched as the Sith Lord tried to influence more and more shots until finally one of the Guard broke through that influence and hit exactly where he wanted to, and struck him in the shoulder. He smiled grimly to himself: he would have to impliment a better mental training regimen to help them resist such influences. Even if they would never stand against a Sith Lord, it would still give any Jedi that confronted them a bit of a shock when their mind tricks cracked when civilians would have been swayed.

Jax closed his eyes once more as Avaritus left, settling back into the rhythym of the Adegan crystals orbiting his frame. He had been without food for three days now, and was beginning to feel its strain. He decided that he would wait for four more days, or until he received word from High Command. Whichever.

"Well done, my brothers. You may return to your post."

I felt the battle between my apprentice and Jax. My apprentice was learning, quickly. His apprentice had not fully embraced the Dark side, but it took different intervals of time for different individuals. I, myself, had taken years to fully realize and embrace it's power. It was a glorious power, full of the greatness that befit any Sith Lord.

I stood in the bridge of the Traumatize, my personal flagship of my own personal fleet. While the whole of the Empire was mine, these ships were reserved for my own personal interests and use alone. While Admiral Onca had been granted its use for military incursions, it was on my behalf that he went. Now, this interest required my attention and I would see that it was handled with the utmost care.

"Helm, set a course for the outer reaches of the Korriban system, immediately. It is time to cow these Rebels once and for all," I said.

Death Squadron is en route to Korriban

I looked to the highest ranking naval officer, my arms crossed as I said, "Demand surrendur."

He carried out my order and I awaited response.

Jax opened his eyes as the Force suddenly grew dimmer for the briefest moment, as the fleet moved away from the densely-packed populace of Coruscant. The Adegan crystals orbiting his body suddenly stopped, then moved to a beltpack hanging on the armor rack in the corner of the training center. The Sovereign Protector began to decend, his armor coming free from the rack and meeting him.

First the leg armor and bots, slipping onto his feet as he settled gently to the ground. His arms flared wide, chestplate sealing and gauntlets affixing themselves to the ends of the humeral armor, each piece hissing as the hermetic seals connected. Finally, his eyes looked up as his helm settled into place, computer links activating as he brushed his fingers across his gauntlet datapad.

Everything in place, he exited the training hall and made his way through the sterile corridors of the Traumatize towards the bridge. As the turbolift doors slid open, his eyes took in the visage of his one Master, the Emperor Darth Vader.

He approached the black-armored being on his left side, watching as the ship dropped from hyperspace. The Sovereign Protector folded his arms across his chestplate as the blur of hyperspace winked out, to be replaced by the barren desert world of Korriban. His attention did not waver, his voice soft and resonant in the Force.

"My Lord, all final checks have been completed. The dropships stand ready, as well as the containment fields you have specified."

As the Traumatize came out of hyperspace, Avaritus ended his meditation. He felt stronger here, at this planet. Much stronger. Pure Force surrounded the entire planet. Standig, Avaritus made his way to the bridge, mentally summoning his apprentice.

As he stepped onto the massive bridge, he saw Jax, and Vader standing in front of a viewport. Walking over, his boots echoing on the durasteel plates, he stepped beside Vader, and said, "I await your command, my Master."

Jax stood over the communications consoles, listening to the chatter of status reports as they came through the ships comm. But... nothing from the outside. There was very little in life that infuriated Jax more than waiting for his foe. A few moments before the battle was all well and good, it allowed him to size up his opponent and develop an appropriate plan of attack. But this... this was insanity.

Jax watched as the weapons systems began establishing target locks, and mentally crossed his fingers and waited. If nothing was done soon he woudl likely go mad. Well, not mad... but might end up killing random underlings in a fit of frustration.

Avaritus stood on the bridge of the Traumatize, arms crossed, staring out the forward view port of the massive Executor-class Star Destroyer, towards the brown, and black planet of Korriban. The only planet in the Horuset system, Korriban was the homeworld of the Sith species, and a sacred planet for the Sith Order of old, housing the entombed remains of the most powerful Sith Lords. Their wispers, and echos in the force, combined with the planet's history helped explain why such a strong concentration of the force could be felt on, and around it.

Anyone on the bridge without the help of the Force would be unable to tell anything of Avaritus' state of mind, but his deep, burning anger permiated the Force all around him, barely contained by the patience he had learned in the last few years. His apprentice was late. Far too late. Avaritus considered the young man. A fallen Jedi, Eximius had no ambition, no plans for the future. He wanted power, that was all. Avaritus would have to consider an appropriate display of his displeasure with Eximius once the man arrived.

Immersing himself into the Force, he found his apprentice's mind, and sent a painful surge of anger into his being, making it known that he was waiting, and unhappy. He did not like the fact that his master, Vader, and his trainer for nearly a year witnessed such an act, but it couldn't be helped. Thinking to himself, he felt something...off in Eximius' mind. Something he couldn't place, and it concerned him. Was it duplicity? Doubt? He should've sensed such things sooner. For a moment, he considered letting Vader, or Jax kill Eximius. Certainly the situation would arise at some point in which he angered one of them past the point of idle annoyance. Mentally, he made his presence in Jax's mind known, and sent a thought, watch Eximius closely when I'm not around. I sense something strange in him.

A few reasons why I have not been around: School. Other things that I can't remember. And the main reason is that I didn't know I was needed to post! I didn't know what was going on... But now DJ finally IM'd me and told me where to post, so here I am! But I'm really tired from the homecoming dance (I didn't know I could dance that well >_>) So sorry if there's mistakes. I'm not gonna check for them :P

After recieving the angry message through the force from his master, Eximius thought it'd be a good idea to report to the bridge immediately.

Lately Eximius didn't feel right. He wanted power, but what has he gotten lately? Maybe he was wrong to turn to the Sith for guidance. Although... The thought of going back to the Jedi was unthinkable. For the sole reason that Eximius hated them, he didn't get much freedom. Though the Sith didn't seem all that much different. With Avaritus pushing him around, then there was Jax and Vader who Eximius had to completely steer clear of. Maybe he'd just be better off by himself...

Whatever. It didn't matter at this point. Eximius swallowed his fear, and entered the bridge with an unconciously slight defiant look.

Avaritus felt the defiance, and the doubt in his apprentices mind as he entered the bridge, and no doubt Vader, and Jax felt it to. He could feel the man's thoughts echo in his mind. So Eximius thought he'd be better off by himself? Avaritus would have to give Eximius another demonstration of just how weak he was compared to a true Sith.

Turning to face Eximius, he noticed the man's defiant look, and said, "So you think you'd do better on your own, my apprentice?"

At that point, he threw out his hand, intentionally slower than he would've if he would have been in an actual battle, and just touched the man's chest. In that milisecond, he focused the Force into pure, raw energy, and projected it into Eximius' body. As he did so, the man whrithed, rooted to the spot, unable to pull away. After a few seconds, Avaritus let the man go, and smiled as Eximius fell limp to the deck plates, small archs of electricity still coursing through his body to the deck.

"Now, my apprentice. That was just a fraction of the power I could've put through you. There are still Jedi, and other force users in this galaxy that could kill you just as easily as I could. Remember that the next time you think you'd do better on your own, or the next time you openly show defiance in front of me."

Avaritus turned his back on the man, and went back to looking at Korriban. He turned his back on his apprentice intentionally. He would've been impressed if the man could've summoned the courage to attack him after that, no matter how foolish it would be.

Better off alone... Yeah, at least he wouldn't have to deal with Sith constantly reminding him of how weak he was.

"Maybe you should just kill me then..." Eximius struggled to get up to his feet, but he tried his hardest. Along with withdrawing one of his lightsabers and igniting it before he was even all the way up. The shimmering red blade symbolized the Sith Apprentice's rising anger, normally he would have drawn his original blue lightsaber. "What do I have to gain in this life?" Eximius said that more to himself than anyone else. Even though he whispered it though, Avaritus had no trouble hearing it.

Eximius glanced angrily before violently swinging his blade. Even though it was in blind rage, he still had enough sense to know it would be blocked. And that he also had no chance of winning. That never stopped him before though.
