2084 is a fully free-form RPG set in mankind's not-so-distant future. Earth is basically run by a single corporation, and there are those that do not necessarily agree with that.

The economy is entirely in-game, there are no numbers to track or forms to follow. If you feel your character needs a war ship, they can have one... unfortunately, there are other players that might not see it the same way, and the more wild your purchases... the more attention you draw from the corporation that defines your world.

The RPG is going nicely, so far. We've got about a dozen members and the story is moving along. :D

I appreciate the compliments, all of you. Rory and I have worked on the backstory since about June of '08, and not even a tenth of it is documented anywhere aside from our respective minds, yet. All original. :)

What is the standing on military characters? What kind of militaries exist in the game?

Catch me on the 2084 forums, it'd be a more appropriate place to discuss this. :)

Score! RPG's first rejected application goes to me. :P Maybe I took 'freeform' too seriously. :P

I suppose there should be some distinction between 'absolute freeform' and 'freeform within the setting'.

So, I was hopping for a 'Firefly-Malcom/Wash' type role, but I'm not sure I understand the game enough set up an app for this sort of character. Do ships even need pilots/helmsman? Or captains? Do the ships have a 'warp' drive or are their jumpgates/relays? Are there any military transcraft? What's happening in New York? The world is to perfect? Was that last question a question? I'm so confused...?

I'm afraid I don't understand your character reference.

Yes, civilian spacecraft generally need pilots, technicians, et cetera. Military craft use naval rankings. Interstellar travel is achieved via a jump-drive designed by Koehler, but the technology is generally limited to governments and ODE. You can read more about this in the Backstory forum on the 2084 forums.

There are plenty of military transcraft, none of which are sold to civilians.

Have you read 1984, by George Orwell? It might help if you read a synopsis, as our RPG is a loose sci-fi adaptation.

Check the first post.
I'm assuming that ODE is the party, and 'you' (Koehler) are BB. I'm currently writing an app., actually.

EDIT: Having serious posting problems...

EDIT 2: Source of prop found and app posted. He's a cargo hauler with a vigilante type streak at times on the outer worlds...

BTW: From what I've been told, the world of 2084 is actually kind of perfect, instead of fake perfection... that what was up with the non-question question earlier. :P

That's generally up to player-interpretation, so you can make your own assumptions there.

I was told before that there was no space piracy because everybody gets what they wants. Sounds a little perfect. Anyway, I WAS APPROVEDED ^_^
YAyayayaaAYyaYYAyay.
Anyhow, you do have to look out for those mumptions... they're kinda like metronomes... I hate metronomes... my current metronome kill count is 6... one had a smilie face... it died like the rest.

But yah, I look forward to playing.

After six or seven revisions, indeed. :P Hope you do enjoy the game, though.
