Well, I'm sure that as a game, it's pretty cool. :p

But the story is an atrocity.

Oh, definately. Even throwing the laws of physics out the window with canon can't make up for that. Still, it has its moments.

My opinion:

The game needs to be taken with a pinch of salt: while most of the thing that actually happen in the game can be said to occur in canon, I don't think they were as OTT as they are presented in the game, because they wouldn't be as fun, and therefore, it qualifies as a Game Mechanic.

From what I'm told... by Ben, anyway...

The game features a horrendously bad retcon, and as such (much like most Prequel things) should have all copies of it burned and sprinkled with salt.

Ben would be correct. That is reason enough for a party. :p

And to make the point of what the retcon is

Spoiler:
The Alliance Starbird is the family crest of the main character, and he is personally responcible for gathering the initial members of the Rebellion together - the Rebellion originally beeing a ploy by Palpatine to get all of his enemies at once (how he couldn't of either killed all of them when he captures them during the game, and how he couldn't of then ordered a full invasion of Alderaan given he had PROOF of Bail Organa's involvement escapes me utterly.)

There isn't one...this is why the game makes no sense at all.

Well when the game's sole mandate is to let people 'kick butt with the force' there needs to be some leeway when it comes to story. Just take it at face value.

I finally worked out how to describe the gameplay...

Its Psi-Ops: the Mindgate Conspiracy only with a lack of variety of powers, crossed with the god-awful Episode 3 game while trying to rip off God of War at the same time.

Ah, **** off, Lenin, let us have our own revolution against lesser but still insanely annoying evils like shit retcons.

Annoying though it might be, the Star Wars genre has... devolved somewhat to little more than 'kiddie' movies. Take the new Star Wars The Clone Wars for instance. While I am an avid OT fan, I enjoyed the new one because I took it at face value as a children's movie. Everything just needs to be put into perspective.

How many of you have honestly, at some point in your lives, ever wanted to push a whole squad of stormtroopers around with the Force. Honestly?

We could do that before Lenin...Jedi Knight 2...and that actually had GOOD gameplay.

Jedi Knight 1 (well, Dark Forces 2, same thing) is old, but still entertaining. And you can be even more sadistic with the Force than you can in the newer games.

Or you could use the Gravity Gun in the last level of Half-Life 2 to throw enemy troops around
