I don't take issue with the PT, but I don't love it either. I just feel a little bit disappointed.

And I agree with Han that the Clone Wars is totally overused now. There have been how many books, comics, games and TV series about it? Jesus, just move on, Lucas!

Now, in my dank little EU fanboy brain there lurks the furtive (and futile) hope that they might get Tim Zahn to right a straight up adaptation of Heir to the Empire for TV/film... but that's impossible. I'd like it, though.

I'm saying I don't hate it, but I don't really like it either. I watch it because it's Star Wars and it has explosions and fights in it, but I feel little emotional attachment to it :P Although, I did think RotS was good, because it did try.

Yeah, RotS tried. It's tolerable. :p

And TPM kinda has that classic feel to it with new faces. So, that helps it out. Of course, AotC... just... bleh.

TPM to me kinda felt like a movie version of Knights of the Old Republic...it just had that special "feel" to it. On AotC; I'd watch the last 20 minutes or so for the Battle of Geonosis then shut it off.

AotC was the worst, quite obviously, and I don't think there's a whole lot of people out there that would contest it. The only redeeming factor RotS had was the sentimental ties to the original trilogy - that's, honestly, it. The entire Anakin and Padmé conflict had as much integrity as a half-eaten piece of burnt toast. TPM sucked but was partially excusable because it was the first of the new movies. Too bad they didn't get any better...

Yeah, III had too many pointless scenes in it with those two just staring into the sunset wondering where the other is, I think (and I watched it with commentary, too) that Geogre Lucas did just want to explain where Darth Vader came from. The movie was an excuse. But of course it did have more lightsaber duels than any other movie, and more Cone Wars, and the seeds of the Rebellion (which were totally not as cool).

I think I was awesome. :? and V was so worse than II.

...Empire is worse than AotC? The best SW film ever made is inferior to a two-hour backstory exposition and toy commercial with a romance plot that even I would be nauseous if I penned it?

I liked the love scenes, and AOTC isn't that bad. :P It's just an attempt to put a different spin on the Star Wars we know and love. I don't think it was widely accepted, but it wasn't downright terrible. :P

Comparing ESB and AotC to each other is like comparing the internet to quill and ink, ink made from the souls of movie-goers.

Although I will say I believe RotJ is better than ESB.

Given that I can't even stand watching through the entirity of Jedi I'm more inclined to suggest that Empire is still by far the single best Star Wars film...the entirity of its content is tollerable, ANH is a classic, I can just about bear Episode 1 and 3 but I cannot stand the majority of Jedi or AotC - though I enjoy the Kamino section and the battle of Geonosis parts, and in the case of Jedi I like the space section of the Battle of Endor, as for the ground section the Ewoks should have been Wookies and it should have been Kashyk.

ROTJ and ESB as joint first, then ANH, then RotS, TPM, AotC.

I like ESB the best, simple cause its the most realistic. I can't stand the notion of the good always triumphs over evil, especially when evil has control of ninety percent of the galaxy and outnumbers the good by about a thousand to one.

I think ESB and RotJ are my two favorites, not because of any complicated 'Good vs. Evil' themes, but because you get a decent feel for what it's like for everyone else but the Jedi and Sith in the war. The Rebel troops being completely decimated at Hoth(and knowing full well they would die) just for the sake of getting the fleet into orbit was brilliant. And the fleet vs. fleet battle in RotJ was just far superior to Mr. Calrissian's run on the Death Star 2.0.

Is it just me, or does all of the overdone CGI in AotC and RotS give a sense of cheapening cornball to the battle sequences between armies and fleets? I think I liked it better when George Lucas could do wonders with miniatures and basic computer effects than when he decided he needed to spend as much of a movie's budget as possible on CGI

Eek! I was going to post there...

I agree as well. :)

I don't get why everybody thinks V is so good. The Empire flicks Hoth away, the animation on that scene being so bad you can tell it's animated if you think it's real, Luke goes to Dagobah to be a jedi, the Falcon is trapped on Bespin, and they wrap it up with a duel between a kid who's getting the hang of this and a robot (quite literally) and that over-misquoted line, "No, I am your father."
II has more action, like the dogfight above Geonosis and the first battle of the Clone Wras. They exagerated the cheap love story, sure, but they more than make up for it with mystery, action, and animation that's almost as good as the models were.

Because ESB has more heart and story/character development than AOTC could ever dream of having in its little finger.

Star Wars isn't about the action. It's about the story.
