Quote:
9. Effective immediately, all non-combat personnel (example, Intelligence officers, Security personnel, etc.) will require maintenance. The fee, per person, is 2 credits.

Also, there is a recruiting fee for troops and non-combat personnel. For troops, it is 750 credits. For non-combat, 600 credits.

Finally, personal armies (such as bodyguard contingents) 1,000 or more in number will have to pay maintenance.

I should point out that recruiting fees apply to ALL existing troops as well as new ones.

Can we get a better explanation of what this entails. :P

Okay, my first question would be:

Security Officers. The ratio of most USA police forces is 1:1000, one being the police officer the 1000 being citizens. :D

Now, if we were to apply that ratio to a population of 1,000,000,000... that would be 1,000,000 officers. 2,000,000 a week just to keep that number, and 750,000,000 just to recruit.

That might be fine and dandy, but let's factor in Coruscant.

Coruscant: 1,000,000,000,000 citizens (rough estimate)
Ratio of Security Officers to General Population 1:1,000 = 1,000,000,000
Recruitment Fee: 750,000,000,000 credits
Maintaince Fee: 2,000,000,000,000 credits

and that's for moderate security conerns.

I don't know about you, but that's kinda outrageous for a single planet to have the NPC security forces. If I'm going to do my job as Security Chief, I might have to pay these fees for the Senate Guard, security at government faciities. But paying for the average cop, speeder enforcement, detectives, etc is crazy and should be covered by a planetary government's taxes any ways. If we wanted anything HIGHER than 1:1000 ratio, perhaps we'd have to pay for it. But... that's just insane. :P

Another question I have, if we are going to pay 750 for an officer, can we pick the race? I'm guessing the standard restrictions apply, but if I wanted a wookiee bodyguard officer, would I have to pay more?

: /

Just something to think about.

Whoa, whoa... civilian cops are a different entity. You don't pay for them. :p

This is for people like ISB, Rebel Security, etc. The FBI of the SW universe, not the average policeman.

As for Wookiees and the like, I'm not sure. The 750 applies to most humanoid races, though. I'm guessing Wookiees might be a bit more, Ewoks a little less. :p

Yeah, having a 3PO walk up to you and demand a pay raise would be hilarious. :P

Alex did pay to build his HRDs... which I might add are a lot more expensive than a normal soldier.

No, what I meant is that if one employs a sentient droid should they be paying upkeep as well as a recruiting fee if they take that droid in?

What about forces which are conscripted? Or, specifically, who feel obliged to fight for their race due to the traditions of the Caste which they were born into?

What about, and Ams will no doubt get the line that I'm going down, Penal Legions...i.e. convict-conscripts?

Yoggoy Confederate was the maker of HRDs until Alex made his ugly thing. 9,000,000 a piece, and I had like 1,000 of them as guards.

Also, HRDs ARE on the restricted list from CMAC. That means you have to clear them with us, because we're not having armies of the damned things running around.
