Get here. Now.

The message sounded as a thunderclap in Jax's conciousness. The funeral had been dragging so long he had almost missed the action... almost. When Lord Avaritus had left to see to Skirata's condition he had let the Sith Apprentice be, concerning himself more with the proceeding funeral. But when Avaritus had called to him, the former Sovereign Protector responded immediately. The Sith robes billowed in his wake as he went towards the medical facility, to the presence he could track... the life force of Kalydon Skirata.

A pause. Emperor Vader was still here, still absorbed in his meditations concerning the cremated remains of the spawn of Skywalker. It would not do to leave him here, not in the presence of the Rebels... no. He would wait for Avaritus. It was not long before his form came through the doors to the funeral chamber. As the Sith Apprentice began to speak Jax lifted his hand, his voice reverberating from within the drawn cowl still concealing his face. "You may dispense with the explinations, Mr. Zytsef, I am fully aware that the vile woman you know as Pallanén-Davad has kept you from the Vice Admiral's side. I will see to the situation personally, in the meantime I need you to remain at His Majesty's side and see him safely back aboard the Traumatize.

Without another word he departed from the convocation chamber and made his way down the halls... the medical facility was on the route that he had taken from the security office and the funeral, so its location was not unfamiliar to him. The security officer sent to meet him, Jemmid her namebadge read, offered a salute with an arrogant air that infuriated the Sith Apprentice. A compatriot, an excellent commander and a man that Jax, in another life, would have considered a friend was laying with an unknown cause to his illness, and the Rebel had the audacity to interfere? No, that would not stand.

The woman opened her mouth to speak, the only sound issuing from the parted lips a surprised gurgle as the Sith Lord seized the woman's throat and lifted her clear of fthe ground, the Force pouring through his grasp as he slammed Jemmid into the wall. His voice was a muted hiss, speaking only three words. "Where is he?"

The grip loosened enough for the woman to speak. "Bacta... Tanks... second floor" Without another word Jax cast her into the opposing the wall, denting the durasteel bulkhead with the impact and leaving her unconcious but alive and unbroken on the floor. The Sith robe whipped in his wake, revealing the matted finished of his Sith Armor encasing his form but leaving his face concealed. He burst through the door to the bacta tanks, his attention zeroed on the Thanagarian security chief.

"What happened, how is he, and how many people will I have to kill to ensure this man is safe here?" The words were spoken very matter-of-factly, the Sovereign Protector's hands folded across his chest, the cowl throwing his face into shadow.

"What happened, how is he, and how many people will I have to kill to ensure this man is safe here?" a voice from behind her emerged, after the sound of the doors opening. The Security Officer Jemmid was absent, Arlyn remembered asking that she had lead the man before her. Carnor Jax.

"We are not entirely sure what happened between the two officers." Arlyn told the half truth. They had video of the instant, yet it seemed to lean towards an accident in the Force. "He will recover perfectly and no one will be killed to ensure Skirata's safety." The thanagarian looked at Carnor very carefully. Just then, an officer whispered the attack on Jemmid into Arlyn's ear.

"If you really want to sit and hold Skirata's hand, you should think twice about assaulting a Rebellion officer. Get him out of here-" just then Master Yoogle paired with two other Jedi stepped into the room. They had sensed the commotion as well. "Jax, please leave. I'm not going to press charges this very moment, but you'll be lucky if you leave Denon. Now get out." Yoogle tensed, alerting the Jedi they might be necessary....

Yoogle sensed the issue and now he was in the problem. Looking to Arlyn, he suggested, "Create more problems, left out, he will. Allow him to supervise the recovery, you should." Yoogle walked towards the bacta tank, the Force telling him that both would make a nice recovery. "An interesting event, I assume?"

Alatáriël Pallanén-Davad eyed Carnor Jax dangerously and warned, "Another assault, and it will be the last. You can stay over there." She pointed to a chair, that was smaller than he was. He never enjoyed sitting from what she could remember any ways. The farther he was, the better. Master Yoogle was right, Jax was like a bantha mother, when it came to injured Imperials.

"Holding hands has never been my strong point, Alatáriël, I thought I had made that abundantly clear at Korriban. Vice Admiral Skirata has been injured, nobody knows how or why, and until I can personally ascertain his safety and the lack of any Rebel involvement I will not leave his side. Your Jedi escorts would not be able to protect you if I found anything wrong, but since you brought him here I am willing to gamble that you honestly have no involvement.

Nevertheless, Alatáriël, my attention and my purpose is to protect Skirata until he is healed and we are out of enemy territory. You may perform whatever tests and treatments you require, but I will not cease supervision of this situation until everything is taken care of."
Jax looked to Yoogle, then deliberately turned his back on the ancient Jedi Master to look Arlyn in the eye. His hands slowly reached to push back his cowl, to reveal the close-cropped brown hair and aging features of the former Sovereign Protector, his jaw set tight but his body rather relaxed, non-threatening.

Yoogle's words helped to diffuse the situation: Jax knew that the Security Chief always took the advice of the Jedi Master. There would be no need to exert his influence further. But, rather than gloating over his victory the former Sovereign Protector instead bowed slightly, not breaking eye contact. "Please inform the Traumatize that I will be remaining with the Vice-Admiral until he recovers. As you can see I am unarmed, I will not cause any more disturbance than is necessary to ensure his safety."

Alatáriël Pallanén-Davad hid the desire to roll her eyes and nodded at one of the nearby security agents. "He may be an ass, but he's not lying." She breathed to the nearby medical doctors. Skirata was submerged before Elizabeth and in this time frame, Arlyn sent a communique to Ackbar and Leia informing both of the interesting turn of events. Yoogle and his Jedi companions waited nearby, their presence kept Arlyn at a more peaceful tolerance level than before.

"Sir, the Traumatize has been informed of your presence here." the security officer informed Jax. He'll love that... Arlyn thought, ignoring the mere thought of his gloating eyes she took a seat before Elizabeth, hoping for the best.

One of a few flashbacks that are coming...

Kal's head flung back in the tank, his fists clenched, his subconscious mind bringing old memories back, some pleasant...others best left forgotten. This one was of a particularly interesting and somewhat regretful experience, a mission that went FUBAR over Tatooine not too long from the end of the Civil War.
Skirata was a mere Commander at the time onboard the Venator class warship Black Star, during a reconnaissance operation to observe Rebel strength and report their findings. Not the greatest assignment for a ship of the newly created Imperial Special Forces but a mission was a mission.

Two hundred of the Star's troopers went planetside at various points one night, camouflaged both by uniform and cover of darkness it was supposed to be an easy assignment...thought something went terribly wrong along the way. Someone onboard the ship used an uncoded frequency to send a message to the ground forces...and naturally lit them up on Rebel sensors like a fireworks display.

Small firefights broke out soon after, the SpecOps teams holding their own against an uncoordinated Rebel defense, it wouldn't last though, they didn't have the manpower nor the firepower to hold off the entire Alliance force on that small dustball.

Kal swore to himself in Mando'a, when they found the dikut who'd blown cover he'd have that man skinned alive. Though he did retain his calm for the most part...however the Captain of the ship was not so fortunate, beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, he began to stutter. He then did something extreme...seeing two hundred of your best men get pushed into a corner from which there was no escape must have been the straw that broke the Ranor's back.

He panicked.

He ordered a bombardment of the Rebel installations...with the entire arsenal of the Venator; the Turbolasers, laser cannons, Proton Torpedoes, fighters, bombers, everything.

Kal pleaded with him to reconsider his actions. Their orders were to secure the planet quietly and without major civilian loss…this Captain was about to defy those orders and utterly spit on them.
The Captain ignored the pleading and stood silent, muttering something under his breath.

"Frak it", Kal said. "This is wrong, you're going to throw the lives of our own people away just to get revenge?" He shoved a blaster pistol to my forehead. “They’re only Rebels boy…no one will miss them.”
I responded to this remark, “And what of the civilians? Are you ready to write off their lives too? Not to mention the 200 soldiers we have down there.”

His reply to that both stunned Kal, and mortified him...

“The sacrifice they make today, both civilian and military, will serve as a monument and testament to those who defy us. The troops lay their lives down to uphold our ideals and the civilians to remind others of the price of defection.”

Then he turned to the planet to watch as it was about to be burned by fiery plasma. A million things welled up inside Skirata, anger, sorrow, guilt, pain, morals, honor…and then duty.
He had a duty to protect those soldiers and civilian life because the Empire needed all the allies it could get.
“Captain, you are in direct violation of our standing orders from the Empire, you are putting the lives of every man, woman, and child down there in jeopardy. Stand down or I'll relieve you by force.”

He simply ignored the young Mandalorian. “Gunnery crews prepare to fire.”
He couldn’t just stand by and let it happen, those lives didn’t have to die because of his hatred an stupidity. Skirata did probably the craziest thing any Imperial Officer would ever do, he pulled my knife from it’s sheathe.

***

"I did it for the Empire, it was all for the Empire…” were the last words of the Captain as blood spilled freely from an open wound in his neck.
Then he died in Kal's arms, his hands covered in the crimson blood…The bridge crew stared in shock, as was he for what he had just done. Looking to the planet his mind snapped back into focus, “He defied orders, get the transports down there, retrieve the soldiers dammit!”

They still stared, wondering whether to shoot me, or follow the order of Skirata.
“If none of you act, those 200 soldiers will die, slaughtered by the Rebels’ counterattack!”
That seemed to get them in gear.

***

When the transports landed and the troopers had been debriefed each one of them came and shook Kal's hand, personally thanking him for saving their lives.

Kal simple stood with his back leaning against a wall, the front of his uniform still stained with blood...if he hadn’t acted, everyone there would be dead...but he had to murder a superior officer...and one that at one point he considered a friend.

Back in the present, still unconscious his fists relaxed and he floated calmly again...for now.

One light, surrounded by darkness...Liz was standing in a pillar of light, all alone. She felt a searing pain in her temples and held her head until it subsided. A feminine voice called out from the darkness, "Soon now...soon you will remember. And then everything will become clear."

"Who are you?" Liz called out. She heard footsteps in the distance, slow, deliberate, they sounded closer and closer each time. Then she saw a shadowy figure, "Show yourself" she demanded. "If it will help you understand then so be it..." the figure stepped into the light, cloaked in black, then the woman pulled the hood back, revealing her face. Her cyan hair flowed freely, and her golden eyes shown like torches in the night.

Liz stepped back in shock, the figure stood still, "Yes...I am you Major Lochley. Or more appropriately, I am the other half of you, the dark half...and ironically the only half that remembers everything of our past. Ever since that incident years ago I've been trapped here, the only time I could leave this prison was in your sleep...and I used that to try and get Skirata closer so you could finally become whole again."

The dark one spoke again after looking around, "Apparently...it worked...just not as I had hoped." She started walking around a still confused Elizabeth, "What do you mean by being whole again?" The dark one laughed, "Exactly what it sounds like. When the incident occurred years ago our personality became fractured, broken...you, the light half remained while I, your dark half was relegated to the subconscious. Today we will be united again and will become whole once more."
Liz was uncertain, "This is a bit sudden you know...I don't even know what to think of it all..." She didn't have time to finish her sentence as her dark half grabbed her face and placed her forehead to Liz's. "You talk too much."

Liz was overcome with flashes of images, memories, thoughts, ideas, dreams...she mentally screamed with agony as she was overwhelmed by it all. "Almost done girl, almost..."

***

"...done." Liz opened her eyes in her subconscious mind and remembered. She began to realize everything; what she was, what she used to be, who she used to be...her fists clenched and she fell to her knees as she cried out once more.

Finally becoming silent she whispered something, "Ryoko...my name...is Ryoko..." She closed her eyes again and a memory appeared. This one of a discussion between her and her superior concerning an incident regarding a failed raid years prior...

"What happened?" she asked using not words, but thoughts. 'Skirata eliminated him.' the voice said. Ryoko was confused as to why one person would risk so much for people he never met, he even put his own life on the line for his subordinates..."What will happen to him My Lord?"

Again the voice spoke, 'I shall have him dealt with for his crimes. He killed a loyal officer. He must be punished.' Ryoko felt a pang of regret for him, from what she read of this man's record he was the honorable type...and he was a capable fighter. It would be a shame to waste a valuable asset. "If My Lord permits, I would like to be assigned to watch over him instead. He is a capable warrior, and his kind have many times before dealt crippling blows to the Jedi and the galaxy in general...a valuable asset to your Empire."

'The man he killed was capable as well.' Ryoko stood firm, "Indeed he was, but he made a fatal mistake. His judgement became clouded, he faltered on the line of battle and he disobeyed direct orders from the Naval Command."

'Do not presume to lecture me, child.' She backed off slightly, "I meant no disrespect Master. I offer a request then, Skirata and his ship be transferred to the Rim, he be placed under my supervision and watch. I see potential in him Sire...a great deal, and I would like to preserve that in case it is ever needed."

'Very well. But should he repeat his offense, I shall also hold you responsible for his termination.' Ryoko sighed softly, "Understood...Emperor."

She slumped back into the darkness of the subconscious...

More flashback goodness...

Kal was once again in the past, this time about a week after the FUBAR raid. He pretty much figured what would happen, he did kill a superior officer after all, but he took courage in the knowledge that he did what was right. He was headed for Coruscant for a formal inquiry into the matter. When he got there he told the uncensored version of what happened, left out no detail, avoided nothing. Hours passed until I was told the outcome, I was not to be executed, but promoted and given a transfer.

The Black Star was to be assigned to patrol of the Outer Rim territory near Tatooine, perhaps to serve as a reminder to what the now Captain Skirata had done to earn it. Kal didn't feel he deserved the command, not in the least...although some of the very same troopers who thanked him for saving their hides were congratulating him on his promotion...the troops who had been for a few years taking in his lessons on Mandalorian culture, what would one day be the Imperial Marines.

During a routine op on the surface of Tatooine Kal met someone, a young lady with lovely light-blueish hair who was serving some drinks to his soldiers.

He admired that she was being so hospitable towards Imperial soldiers, nowadays there was growing anti-Imperial sentiment and it was becoming harder and harder to find allies. "Miss? Thank you for aiding my troopers, it's awfully kind but..." She held up a finger to his lips, "It's not a problem, I do what I can for the fighting men and women of the Empire." Her eyes, Kal couldn't take his eyes off hers. He smiled at the young woman, "It's appreciated. I'm..."

"I know who you are Kalydon, some of your soldiers here have been speaking pretty highly of you. My name's Jennifer, pleased to meet you."
Kal blushed a bit, "Would you..." again she cut him off, "I'd love to have a drink with you, over there and I'll be right with you love." and she went off to serve some of the other squads.

Kal just stood there, speechless. "...wow" was all one of the present troopers could say about the girl. Kal silently agreed with him, she was something, and this would be an interesting day...

...and indeed it was, for that one drink soon led to a happy two year relationship that ended abruptly, and violently.

Ryoko floated still suspended in the rejuvenating bacta solution, her mind again wandering through her memories...

Over time Ryoko had gotten to know Kal pretty well, she also came to like him...alot, she wasn't concerned about this relationship interfering with her job though. She came to know that he was a good man, he had a good sense of morals and he wouldn't betray the Empire.

He truly believed that what he did during the original raid was the right move, and Ryoko agreed; he followed the orders of the Imperial Naval Command to the letter, his superior did not. Emperor Palpatine however didn't seem to see it that way...perhaps he let his emotions get in the way of leading the Empire, perhaps it was something else, Ryoko wasn't sure.

It wasn't her problem though, she wasn't involved in the politics of it all, she just adjusted them when she was required to.

One day Kal came to her and asked her to come with him on a trip somewhere while he was on leave, she reluctantly agreed and they went off to the Roon Tours Center on the planet. When she got her ticket she looked at the destination and the price and she raised one eyebrow, "Can your salary cover this?"

Kal smiled, "The Empire's taken care of most of my needs since I signed up, my credits have just been piling up...so I figured that I'd take a beatiful woman out to a good vacation spot. Nice and secluded, out of the way, no one would find us unless they were looking hard."
Ryoko smiled at that, she liked that side of him, playful and yet teasing. "Roon huh? Haven't heard much about it..."

When they arrived at the port on Roon they were rested, the flight was smooth with no interruptions, and the planet itself was amazing. The got off the ship and got a room at the Roon Tours headquarters. Kal was awfully casual about his spending of his credit, "Ehh, no big deal. Besides, your worth it." he said. Ryoko blushed, never in her life had anyone acted this way towards her...never in her service to the Empire had she seen such kindness shown to her.

Though she didn't mind it in the least, she loved every minute of it.

Two days after being there Kal got an idea. "Hey babe, let's go to that beach now, what do you say?" Ryoko thought about it, she did remember to bring that red, two piece swimsuit she picked up before they left...though she hadn't had a chance to see what she looked like with it on. Though she didn't care, around Kal she felt like she could relax, another first for her.

Minutes later she came out and showed herself off to Kal, she must have made an impression because his jaw was close to falling to the floor. She smiled with a devilish grin, "Alright, ready lover boy?"
Kal smirked, "Very funny, yeah let's go."

They spent the whole day relaxing in the sun, enjoying the peace and quiet, talking to each other about where they wanted to go in life. Kal started laughing...Ryoko smirked, "And what are you laughing at?"

He grinned, "Oh nothing...nothing at all Jenn..." This answer didn't satisfy her, "I'm serious, what's funny?" Kal teased a bit more, "And I'm serious too, it's nothing really." he kept laughing.

She was getting irritated, so she got on top and pinned him, "Now tell me my wonderful Mandalorian, what was so insignificant that you couldn't stop laughing?" Kal brandished a small box. Ryoko's heart skipped a beat, she had a pretty good idea what was inside. "Is that...?"

Kal opened the box and Ryoko's heart again skipped a beat when she saw what was inside...a small golden ring with one very damned beautiful gem set inside it. "Pulled alot of strings for this one, but one genuine Roonstone." Ryoko was still taken in shock, "...but..."
Kal put a finger to her lips, "Like I said, you are worth it. Jennifer, will you..."

Like the day they first met, Kal never finished that sentence before Ryoko embraced him with a passionate kiss. I'll take that as a yes, Kal thought.

You're damn right that's a yes, Ryoko thought to herself. They stayed there on the beach for several more hours, enjoying the time with each other.

Inside the confines of the Bacta tank Ryoko had a devilish smile, remembering that Kal was in the tank right next to her...and they both had several years of intimate catching up to do when they both got out.

Alatáriël Pallanén-Davad carefully watched the two bodies, their eyes fluttering with the embrace of the dreams and the activity of their brains. She looked at the Imperial man in the corner, his body and frame so timid with somekind of mental supremancy, or so he believed. An officer approached the Security Chief, whispered in her ear several words, and she understood that her time with Skirata and Elizabeth was over.

Turning to the room, she said, "I'm afraid I have other duties in the Alliance to attend to. Carnor, it was a pleasure to see you, yet again." she breathed with a forced smile. "Master Yoogle and Deputy Klimms will be staying and updating me on the progress, should any problems arise." She was speaking more to the Jedi in the room, versus Carnor himself, "Just give me a call."

Taking one last glance at the tanks, and allowing Carnor to slip in a remark, the thanagarian departed.

I've enjoyed showing several aspects of what these two used to share, what they used to be, and how happy they were...but as with all good things...it must come to an end...

Skirata kissed his lover again, it was a nice day, a gentle breeze, the sun shined, and he could hear the sound of a mortar round heading towards him. The blast woke him up from his peaceful memory, all he could see was smoke and debris, his troopers pinned by enemy blaster fire. It was an ambush, a small pocket of Rebels had been in hiding here for several months now and they finally decided to spring their trap...unfortunately Kal was right in the middle of it.

Two squads of his troopers held their line in makeshift foxholes, and returned fire with their E-11s and DLT-19s. It was a hellish sight, red pulses bouncing back and forth from all sides.

Minutes, that seemed like hours had passed, the fighting was dying down. One of two possibilities remained in Kal's mind, either the Rebels were regrouping, or retreating...either way it presented an opportunity to take the field. He was about to order a rapid advance when in the background he heard yelling...it was his name he heard, and it was Jennifer. He spun around to where she was calling from and was just in time to see a crimson bolt strike her in her back.

Kal thrashed in the bacta tank...

His eyes went wide as she fell to the ground, he sprang up while one of his troopers called out "Sniper! Grey building, second window!" as they readied a rocket to blast the di'kut into oblivion. Skirata held her in his arms tightly, hoping that this was just another one of his common nightmares but he did not awake, and she did not breathe. The fighting was picking up again with some Rebels gaining courage to stand up once more.

Kal's heart filled with anger, with rage, with hate...he wanted revenge, badly. "Waste them! Waste the motherfrakkers!" he called into his headset while his troopers returned fire with renewed vigor. Rebels were cut down left and right as the vengeful Mandalorian searched for the di'kut who had taken away the one thing that Kal treasured. He noticed out of the corner of his eye, a Rebel dropping down from a rooftop and trying to flee.

His fists closed tight, and his teeth were clenched...

Skirata took off after the man, mad with hate, an animalistic rage the likes of which he had never felt before. He chased the Rebel down several city blocks, never letting go, never relenting...This bastard is mine!, he thought.
The Rebel, while panicking and breathless, ran through a narrow alleyway and thought he was home free until a sword blade ejected from an alcove on the side of the alley and took his left arm. The trooper fell, agony overtaking his senses as he cried out. Skirata circled the wounded fooland spoke to him, "You bastard, you killed the one thing that I cherished most...you took my fiancée you little son of a bitch."

The Rebel spat at him, "Anyone who is in league with an Imperial deserves whatever they get."

Kal thrashed around in the healing solution once more...

This maddened the enraged Skirata, but he remembered his love, and he drove the sword through the man's skull and into the wall behind him. Skirata backed up and was about to regroup with his troops when he heard a shot discharge, and felt a searing pain in his leg as everything went black. He heard shuffling sounds, but they sounded so distant, he could barely make out a voice "Stay with us sir, we'll get you back to the ship. Medic! We need a medic over here!"

Kal's thrashing subsided, and he went back to floating normally, still unconscious...

Ryoko felt stronger, much stronger than she felt ever before. After this post she can come out of the tank.

She could see blaster fire all around, Kal's forces were pinned, but she knew deep down he would prevail. She wanted to help however, but her Master would punish her for blowing her cover...though sometimes she wanted badly to say frak it and try to live a normal life, one without spying, without having to keep her secret from the one she pledged her life to.

She was contemplating requesting a release from her position as Emperor's Hand even...though doubted Emperor Palpatine would allow it. It was worth a try though, she had had enough, enough of the murder, the backstabbing...for the first time in her life she felt loved, and wanted. She never wanted to lose that.

"To hell with it all, Palpatine can fry my ass for all I care but I'm not letting anything happen to Kalydon." she said as she grabbed her pistol, an old yet still functioning weapon. When she got outside she started off towards Skirata's position, but stopped suddenly. Something was wrong, very wrong, she felt something from the Force...a feeling she had long before learned to associate with trouble. There was too much commotion around to know where it was coming from but she knew there was a sniper around. Eyes darting from building to building she got a small fragment of a thought from the shooter, "This is the penalty for traitors Skirata, see you in hell."

Her eyes went wide as she started yelling for Kal, there was no choice in the matter. Either she tried to get his attention and get him to duck by yelling at the top of her lungs or she tried to look for the sniper on her own...and with so many buildings to check by the time she found him Kal would have a rather large hole in his head. Ryoko kept running, Kal was in sight as she cleared a pocket of structures, thinking she was home free and he would be safe.

Fate had other plans...

The shot struck her in the lower back, she gritted her teeth in pain as everything started going dark and her vision blurred. The last thing she saw clearly was Kal's face, eyes wide with a mixture of fear and anguish. She tried to find the strength to say she was sorry but no words came out. Finally she let the darkness overcome her as she slipped away...

***

Once again fate had other plans, her death was not in them.

Her vision started to clear, it had only been a few minutes since the shooting but it had felt like an eternity. She lay motionless still, but she heard a voice nearby, "A shame you had to die...but this works out for the better. With Skirata enraged at the Rebel scum for your death he may yet redeem himself for the Empire." The voice laughed as he took off in a run.

Angered, the wounded Ryoko gathered her strength, she focused on the image of Kal to give her strength, the only thing she wanted to fight for anymore...she rose to her feet, shakily, but upright. She started to run to where she felt his presence, her senses might be wrong but she had to try to find him.

Her vision was blurry, her strength fading, she collapsed on the ground. She felt his presence nearby and took comfort in knowing that he was still alive. Ryoko struggled to crawl closer to see him one more time but she heard a blaster fire and saw an energy bolt strike him down. A single tear fell from her eye as saw several of Kal's troopers run to his side. Everything went black after that.

"And now you know everything..." Ryoko's dark half said. Once again the light half of Elizabeth found herself in that same dark room with the one pillar of light.

"Yes...so much happened..." her light half said.

The dark one smiled slightly, "Indeed, and now you remember. Now however comes the moment that I have been waiting for for years, the moment that the damage that blasted sniper caused is repaired."

Her light side looked puzzled, "How exactly did I survive that shot? I should be dead..."

Her dark half looked confused for a second, "Oh that...so not all of your memories have fully surfaced yet. Then in due time my dear twin, in due time you will know of your own special talents." she said with an evil grin. "So, are you ready? I may be your dark half but I am not heartless...you can choose to remain as you are, this 'Elizabeth Lochley'...or you can reclaim your original identity...Ryoko." she said as she circled Liz.

"The choice is entirely yours...choose quickly...but choose wisely."

The light half thought about it hard, she was needed in the Alliance...they needed talented individuals, but she wasn't sure how they would react to having an Emperor's Hand in their military. But then she thought of Skirata, all the memories of him, what they shared, what they did, and she decided. "Ryoko" she said.

The dark half smiled, "Very well...step closer then." Liz did as she was told and the darkness slipped away as she did, as did the pillar of light. Her dark half embraced her tightly as the two started to merge...

In the bacta tank Ryoko opened her eyes for the first time since she was put in. She looked around and saw Skirata in the next tank still unconscious, "Not much longer love..." she thought.

Interesting

Carnor Jax was always very careful, especially around Jedi, to keep his Force Sensitivity concealed, nevertheless the levels of emotion that washed over him from the unconcious form of Kalydon Skirata and the newly awakened Rebel officer were palpable, causing the former Sovereign Protector to carefully shield his own sympathetic response. His eyes closed, a deep sigh passing the man's lips as the emotional void he was known for within the ranks of the Empire was established once more.

Before he cut himself off from them, however, he noticed something... the pain and rage coming from the two were mirrors of one another, alike in so many aspects yet so very different in others. It was almost as if they were somehow... connected. The thought played around Olethros' mind before he dismissed it, filing it away in his mental catalog before turning his attention to the situation at hand.

Already the medics were confirming diagnostic sensors, adjusting the flow rates of medication and electonic impulses to better accomodate a concious form. To his knowledge they still had not discovered the reason for the collapse, but reasons at this point were irrelevant: the only thing that mattered was the safety of an Imperial officer and comrade.

Jax rose to his feet, the black-clad form seeming to suck the light from the transparisteel windows. A couple of the techs visibly flinched, still others redirected their destinations a bit too quickly, not subtle enough to escape Olethros' eyes. The factor of his intimidation was not an occurance lost on the former Sovereign Protector, and he saw the two younger Jedi tighten visibly with the sudden burst of action they saw. However, Yoogle seemed to sit comfortably, unsurprised and seemingly disinterested in the situation.

The black-robed Sith Lord walked over to the little green freak of nature, pausing before him before taking a half-sidestep, turning to face the bacta tanks. His arms folded across his chest, the soft rasp of his bracers against his chestplate muffled by the heavy black robes. His voice was soft, carefully neutral, his body slipping more into the dark void of emotion that his bretheren were known for, a pattern of thought that revealed nothing of true intent, yet one bristling with hidden tripwires designed to tell Jax when someone was trying to probe his mind.

"Master Jedi, have you been able to ascertain any reason as to why this would have happened not only to one of the Rebel officers, but to an Imperial one as well? The medical team here are a short-sighted lot, relying on their instruments and not on instinct to see what the true issue is... they both seemed to be in pain, although the neural sensors showed no outside stimulus to their muscles. It all seems rather... peculiar to me."

I believe I have Skirata's permission to post tiny scenes of what occurred in each flashback. If he does, however, wish for me to correct any of the moments to which Yoogle captured I will do so, and point out which ones to the RPG that have been changed.

“If none of you act, those 200 soldiers will die, slaughtered by the Rebels’ counterattack!” Skirata ordered after killing his superior officer in a feeling of duty and honor to the trapped imperials on the surface.

Yoogle watched from within Skirata's unconscious mind, the ability to observe the fragments of the Imperial officer's memories was much easier than if the man had been awake and fully alert. The Force was drawn to this individual, just as much as it had been drawn to the woman known as Elizabeth.

The flashback melted, a black void of non-thought overtaking Skirata's brain as his body shook in the bio-tank. An incasing that was filled with medical goo and equipment to keep the two alive and on a quick path to full physical recovery. Yoogle's mind withdrew from the temporary paralyzed Imperial, his mind returning fully to the room where Carnor Jax and the other Jedi with the team of medical professionals.

The Jedi were anxious, Yoogle could sense that. They were growing restless at the topic, their emotions were becoming less than easy to control with the situation of a down Imperial and even more so, a potential Jedi.

Yoogle attempted to calm their nerves, without a saying a word, just as Elizabeth's mind stirred. Closing his eyes and returning to meditation, Yoogle followed the conscious portion of her brain into what seemed a complicated internal conversation.

It was different than Skirata's memories, she was aware...perhaps even awake. Yet, Yoogle's entrance did not stir her consciousness enough for her to be aware of his watchful presence, until she called out.

"Who are are you?" for a moment, Yoogle wanted to answer, not wanting to hide himself from the woman. He wanted to give her assurances that everyone was all right, and that they were inside the bactatank. "Show yourself." she demanded. And just before Yoogle whispered to the young humanoid, a voice broke the strange silence. A dark figure, masked by the shadows emerged and continued the conversation.

Yoogle watched more intently, as this figure had a connection to the Force.

A third voice emerged. A dark and terrible voice that was known to haunt the very thoughts of Yoogle. The Emperor, he recoiled from Elizabeth's thoughts and before he could muster the ability to enter her mind once again, she had slipped into a dull and black void.

Was she a member of the secret order of Palpatine? Yoogle pondered to himself. Her background check denied such an assumption, yet somehow, Yoogle now believed even Elizabeth was unsure of her past. And because of that, she was an innocent. At least for now.

***

Carnor Jax had moved.

He had examined the tanks condition several times now, yet his mind was unusually silent. The ability to conceal his own memories, thoughts and emotions was intriguing. Yoogle didn't press his own thoughts, but instead took the opportunity to return to Skirata's.

***

He was at a bar.

Using a pickup line to the woman (the darker presence in Elizabeth's mind). She always seemed to finish his line of thought a step of ahead of his progress which caused a warm feeling inside the Jedi Master.

Yoogle chuckled at the affection, the bond that was formed here. His laughter was out of respect, as the Force seemed to align for their meeting. This laughter was only over the meditated connection, as his physical body did not reveal any signs of emotion at the present time.

The memory faded much like the others and Yoogle returned to the medical room.

He was collecting a lot of data on the pair; both obviously knew each other before the initial Force bubble that tossed both of them into their current conditions. Yoogle, without opening his eyes, collected the feelings of all in the room, even that of Carnor Jax. The human didn't reveal much, which in itself, revealed traits of Carnor. He was a silent man, even in his anger and flood of emotion, he seemed to be in control. Training of some kind rested within this expertise, and Yoogle would attempt to understand and investigate such control…later.

Elizabeth stirred, her mind becoming aware and started to wander throughout her memories. Yoogle raced to catch up with the light version that was collectively known as Elizabeth. As Yoogle took in the memory, they seemed to be on a vacation of sorts to a planetary body Kalydon called: Roon; laying on one of the beautiful beaches. It was obvious the two were in love, Yoogle almost wanted to leave the memory...not wanting to invade their privacy. And as he did so, he even opened his eyes in synch to Elizabeth physically smiling. Her desires were conversation with the man floating next to her, and Yoogle would see to it that it was arranged for them to talk without the Imperial protector there to watch and, perhaps, report to his commanders of their intimate connection.

Yoogle typed a medical report to the charged doctor, it was a chance for private conference between the two. Yoogle held the report to the side, a medical droid taking the object and bringing it directly to the medical physician. He read it over, not looking at the Master Jedi and left the room. It was a while before Kalydon's mind had returned for an unclouded viewing of his thought process...

***

Pain, Suffering and torment ended in his latest vision. He had violently raced and chased a man down... to end his life with his sword. He had collasped, his body now thrashing and tossing Yoogle's mind from the viewing. Carnor Jax was nearby, his face not leaving Kalydon's shaking and violent body movements. "Recover, he will. Fear not." Yoogle told the man, his eyes still not opening and leaving his mediation's synchronized coalition to the bodies in the tanks intact.

In Kalydon's last memory, he had believed Elizabeth was dead. And now, clearly, she was beside him in a bacta tank... hours earlier with a clean bill of health.

Yoogle waited. He wanted to understand the vibrations within the Force, he wanted to receive clarity in the dealings of these…lovers.

***

The sniper's shot echoed throughout the memory, Elizabeth had fallen... her mind had betrayed her superior, whomever it was and now she had taken a shot by accident. She may have been part of a great evil, or simply manipulated into a corrupt organization...but what was true, was her love for the man. She was ready to relinquish that duty, her clandestine servitude for him. She had lived that day, the Force willed it so, yet it happened without Skirata’s knowledge. There had been so much chaos, so much confusion, that it wasn’t surprising.

But what was far more interesting, as the two personalities engaged in conversation after the memory, a rather rare occurrence ensued: they merged. Yoogle withdrew from a now collected mind known as Ryoko, to watch the woman awaken from her slumber. It was also a moment, in which Carnor Jax had moved towards the Jedi Master and began to speak.

Yoogle, answered perfectly, his thoughts and mind resuming to the whole picture of the room. He had never left it entirely, being able to keep in touch with the physical realm as well as the mentality of the two fallen officers was extremely important, as letting Yoogle's own mind defenses lowered could be dangerous. He didn't want any to observe his investigations.

"An answer, I cannot give you." Yoogle smiled gently, attempting to send that he wasn't manipulating the man to more anger. "Out of respect, silent, I must be."

Even the memories he gathered confused Yoogle, as he only collected bits and pieces of mere flashbacks. Deciphering the fragments he received would be difficult, and only a conversation with Kalydon and now attentive Ryoko, would solve any kind of confusion. It wasn't Yoogle's place to explain or even retell the events he had observed...to anyone. "Have a feeling, I do, that all will become clear." More or less.

Kalydon stirred and the medical green lights flashed.

It was time for him to emerge as well.

What was this? A Jedi... was standing between his ability to help his compatriot, out of respect? The thought of interference brought Jax's suspicion to the fore - there was a situation they knew about that he didn't. But almost as soon as the line of thought manifested, another consideration was brought to his attention, almost by a second voice of his own mind. How could the Jedi have interfered, if they didn't know what was going on? Yoogle was up to something, and then it clicked.

There are, of course, many ways to tell what someone is thinking. The twitch of muscles, sweating, rapid eye movements... all are excellent ways of knowing at least a general emotion of what is going on in someone's mind. However, the nerve sensors on Kalydon's extremities were all dormant, there was no eye movement, and any swat would have been disolved in the suspension of fluid that the Vice Admiral was being kept in, which led Jax to only one conclusion...

A mind probe.

The confirmation in Yoogle's phrasing, to his mind, brought a surge of anger that the former Sovereign Protector had to struggle to keep in check before it breached the borders of his cold exterior. The Jedi seemed to have no issues probing the minds of those in the tanks without their consent... it was a matter of perspective that Jax personally found appalling, an invasion of privacy and security that would have to be tolerated, lest he act rashly... nevertheless, mentally Yoogle jumped a couple of places on Jax's "people that need to be destroyed" list. However, as the tiny bundle of life finished speaking, the alarms started going off.

Skirata was waking... and the personal issue between Yoogle and himself would have to wait. Jax immediately took command of the situation, moving to the bacta tank controls. Fingers moving effortlessly with experience he began adjusting medication levels and stimulus inputs, drawing the Vice Admiral out of the pleasant stasis with as little shock as possible. Jax's voice was soft, but carried an air of authority that even the Jedi would have had to restrain themselves from obeying.

"Get me two and a half cc's of methyl poly-acetonyacate, reduce stimulus levels to 800 millijoules, and decrease bacta flow by 15%." the techs looked confused a moment, but at a lethal glare from the Sith Lord they immediately sprang into action, executing his orders on the hanging form of the Vice Admiral. The experience of dealing with mentally shocked Guard initiates on Yinchorr gave him a practiced hand at dealing with such ailments, and he wasn't going to leave anything to chance, now with one of his own compatriots on the line.

"Two and a half cc's of methyl poly-acetonyacate?" Alatáriël Pallanén-Davad said as the doors opened to see Elizabeth lifted from the tank. "Someone knows their bacta medicals." She wasn't really surprised, but playing on Carnor's ego and the simplicity of what appeared to be infinite knowledge was rather entertaining, at least for her.

"I see they have come around as promised." Arlyn stared into Elizabeth's eyes for a moment, not sure what to expect from a conversation with the pair. After receiving Master Yoogle's request to give the Imperial and Rebellion officer the ability to rest outside the bacta, and a chance of privacy, the thanagarian approached the Imperial officer, that had been pacing and barking orders. "What are the odds you'll leave them alone in a room."

Leave them alone? Did the woman NOT get the hint the first time... nevertheless, the two did need their privacy, and as far as he could tell the workers were not armed in any way beyond their medical knowledge. The condescension in the Thanagarian's words was grating, and once again Jax had to restrain himself lest he do something... rash. His fingertips moved across the bracers of the Sith armor a moment before he turned to Pallanén-Davad.

"Arrangements can be made... if you will leave one Jedi, only one, to guard this door to the right and allow me the courtesy of standing guard on the left, I will leave your people to their work. As far as Kalydon and Lochley are concerned, the Vice-Admiral is well-suited to protect himself even after a bacta-assisted coma... I trust in his abilities."

Jax lifted his gaze, the sharp gaze of his brown eyes meeting hers, the set of his jaw indicating that while he would accept the interference and leave Kal alone in this situation, he was not happy about it and was unwilling to make any more concessions. inwardly he was seething, but once again for the sake of political relationships he was forced to make a compromise, just as she had in allowing him to remain. The prospect of owing the woman anything left a very bitter taste in his mouth, and he had to suppress a shudder at the very thought.

Alatáriël smiled, "Thank you, Carnor." She was mesmerized by his devotion to the Imperial officer, whether it was friendship or perhaps a twisted manipulation, Arlyn saw something in Carnor she typically ignored. Whether it was his duty or his desire to see Kalydon to recovery, he was here the entire time. Most bodies would show some restlessness to them, however, Jax had a far superior stamina than any Arlyn had met before in her lifetime. Except Ryan, but he was less human than Carnor.

"In the meantime, is there anything we can get you. You've been here a while, perhaps a drink or something to eat." Whether he wanted anything or not, Arlyn would arrange a tray to be brought forth, in case he changed his mind while she was away. A thought crossed her mind and she extended another offer, "Perhaps some fresh air?" She doubted very much Carnor would accept the invitation to a drink outside the confines of the damaged Skirata, however, she waited for his response.

" I'll stand guard...", came an emotionless voice from the shade of the corridor. Jase stepped into the room, leaning heavily on the staff. Herdez had left him a message about Lochley's "accident"; and he had headed down to the medical facility after ensuring that Sarafina and his son were safely on there way off the planet. Grey eyes looked upon the three. The bird, the Master and the killer. Jase remembered all too well how Jax had disposed of the crazed young woman at the Galactic Ball.

He still needed to find out what had happened to his ship. There was no way it could have been an accident. It didn't matter at the moment, however. Lochley was his responsibility as far as command was concerned. " Lochley's my officer, my responsibility, I'll stay here..."

As Jax was to respond, the voice interceded. At first he was tempted to unleash his anger on the man, but something caught his attention. information filtered into his conscious, memories of battles past, of conversations between himself and Avaritus... and a sudden realization came to his mind.

The presence was one unfamiliar to him, yet there was no surprise, no shock. Avaritus had spoken to Jax about the confrontations he had with this particular Jedi, one that treaded the bounds of darkness... and that carried an amethyst blade. Although he had never seen the man face-to-face, there could be no doubt. The melancholy voice, the inherent darkness that he possessed... there was no other man, especially Jedi, that could fit the description.

"Jedi Denora... I do not believe we have had the pleasure of introduction. Your reputation precedes you, at least to my own files, and I must admit that your reputed combat skill is a welcome asset to this particular situation. However... forgive me for saying, but I do not exactly feel comfortable in leaving the safety and well-being of Vice Admiral Skirata in the hands of this particular knight."

Jax turned to Arlyn, his eyes meeting hers for the barest instant. "I'm afraid I must decline your invitation, though your intent and your concession is noted. I am sure you have other duties to which you must attend, you may rest assured that so long as nobody makes an aggressive move towards myself or to this treatment room, I will not make any hostile move in this area."

He waited for the responses from the two before him, his hands folding across his chest with the rasp of metal on metal, his armor seeming to suck the light from the corridor beyond.

"I am no Knight", Jase said flatly, leaning on the staff as he walked to the door. He had responsibilities, yes, mainly to ensure the well being of the officers in his command. There was no time for petty arguments. This was not the time for squabbles between warriors. In fact, Jase did not care how deadly the man presented himself as, nor did he care for the pretentious attitude.

" Your reputation precedes yourself, Jax . I do not follw the Jedi idealism. Do not compare me to them, we are nothing alike. I am simply here to ensure the safety of my officer, just as you. I assure you, I have no intentions of interfering with you. Lochley is my only concern."

Pretentiousness was simply another method Jax used to control a situation, and whether Jase would admit to it or not the Jedi-like warrior's perspective of the former Sovereign Protector was altered, and no matter the change it suited him. Nevertheless this was not the time to engage in a pissing match. They could both perform their duties admirably and to their own capabilities, and together Jax might be able to get some peace of mind. Maybe.

"Denora is an acceptable guard. Have you any other issues you wish to clarify before you wander off to do your work?" The tone was condescending, but the question was real... and a smirk tugged at Jax's lips, concealed by the cowl of his robes. The prospect of twisting that knife just a little bit was amusing to the Sith Lord, and he was almost anxious to discover what she would do or say in retaliation.
