Okay, time to straighten out a few things. In case you guys haven't noticed, well... a lot of conventions of the game are rapidly being undone, in no small part due to CMAC's heightened activity.

For starters, turbolasers. Guys... slapping an XX-9 onto everything isn't the answer. Yeah, ISDs use them. So what? ISDs are also sixteen hundred meters long, and almost a kilometer wide. They can support large weapons like the XX-9. The blasted things are fifty meters across! That means you could fit one on a Nebulon-B frigate.

Look at other turbolaser models. The H9 Dual mount is a good weapon for using against light capital ships. The XI 7 is a powerful medium turbolaser that's effective against capital ships.

Next, ion cannons. Since VII and the Battle of Kessel, ion cannons have been a veritable superweapon. They slipped through shields like they weren't there, playing havoc and knocking the most powerful starship out of the sky courtesy of a Jawa ion blaster.

Not anymore. In canon, it constantly makes references to ions being used after a target's shields are down to disable and capture. So, from now on, they no longer just bypass shields. Now, some people will point to ESB and yell and scream about that.

But, the v-150 ion cannon is also one-quarter as powerful as a w-165 planetary turbolaser, which will destroy an orbiting ISD. So, I'm taking a page from EaW in this one (stop groaning :p). Ion cannons are effective for depleting shields... but only at close range. Of all the space battles seen in the SW movies, less than 13% actually show an ion cannon being used. For one, it's because turbolasers are more effective at blowing holes in shields and hulls. :p But, there's also range issues to consider. What if they lack the reach of a turbolaser? It's certainly possible, and that's what we're going with here.

And the clones. As many of you discovered, either to your abject horror or amusement, depending on your sense of humor and how many clones you bought, that any Spaarti-grown clones that were produced are gonna be unstable at best, drooling and raving idiots at worst. Spaarti clones take a year to grow if you're going to avoid clone madness. Kaminoan clones take 10. No one here has waited that long for their clones, so I'm afraid they're all quite insane. Of course... it still takes a while for the fresh clones. Maybe a few weeks... zerg-rush 'em while you can. :p

Finally... the content in some threads of the Off-Topic forum has gotten to the point where I'm disgusted. Believe me, that's saying something. I enjoy a dirty joke as much as the next twisted pervert :p... but it's out of hand. We're an RPG, not a smut forum. Therefore, any content above PG-13 in the Off-Topic forum will now earn disciplinary action. I really wish I didn't have to do this, but between the language and innuendo, something has to be done.

As far as what's not allowed, "frak" is no different from f**k. It's an R-rating. Same goes for "FFS" and slang for genitalia. Also, "Jesus", "Christ", or "Jesus Christ" as an interjection is not allowed. Please don't curse by other religions, either.

How are we supposed to know the size of turbolasers? It's not listed in the thread.

Well, look at that. Both of you got your posts edited. Now do you think you can actually follow all the rules instead of just the ones you want to follow?

I do, however, think that banning saying "J**** C*****" or "J****" or C*****" is silly, and if you're doing it because it's going to offend some people (even though it's a PG term) then you ought to ban "Damn" and "God" as well. And calling people a "Judas", possibly.

It just seems a bit strange to ban one extremely mild form of blasphemy and not any others :?

Isn't an Ion Cannon a laser? How does it have range if it can be launched from a planet's surface at a ship in space? :P As I remember, in EaW Ion Cannons could blow the crap out of ships and in the movies I watched one repeatedly hoard off enemy starships, yet when anyone used them in this game they would always be destroyed first, thats not convention. :P

And in EaW I watched freaking ion cannons blow the hell out of shields like they were nothing, Admiral Ackbar lasted 5 shots from one. If we followed "convention" this game would be a lot different. :P

Actually, Xaph, both posts would've been handled sooner if you weren't running around baiting us in two forums. :)

And similar to, Brote. Not an exact copy. :p

Its a Lucas Arts game and thus signed into service by the CREATOR of Star Wars, who are you to say he isn't canon? :P

It's a game, Brote. It's C-canon, and based on game mechanics.

Right. Like I said, it's not an exact copy of what happens in EaW. It just inspired a couple things.

I have been informed that in America... the exclamation me and Xaph used to use is considered swearing, whereas where I live it is considered a mild exclamation. I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my usage of it.

But in the movie it kept star destroyers AT BAY, in this game they didn't even do that when I put like 40 of them on Corulag, they all got "targeted" and destroyed. Thats another thing that is a peeve of mine, is weapon "magical" targeting, like they are so accurate, canon wise they aren't, in fact if anyone has played Star Wars Battlefront 2 you will know that it took a beacon for a Star Destroyer to target a specific target, I've never seen that happen and every time I've watched gigantic ships make perfect shots.

That's exactly where your argument impales itself on a rusty spear. Battlefront 2 is nowhere near any kind of canon-correctness.:p

Saturation of fire.

Also, Brote... your ion cannons aren't the same as the ones in ESB. :p

And the bulk of the post refers to shipboard ions, not ground emplacements. Ground weapons are more powerful.

And neither, apparently is ESB?
