Well.... I seem to be a magnet for disasters.. I have just gotten out of a 4-5 hour hospital visit, for torn ligaments in my knee, and also a sprain. Although, I'm happy about it... Cause the paramedics say that it's a miracle that myself, and my friend are alive.

What happened, was that as my friend and I were on our way home from Walmart, we lost our breaks. We were traveling at 55mph at the time, and had no way of slowing down. The light in front of us turned red, and a car shot out into the intersection.

We T-boned his car, the airbags deployed in both cars. I was wearing a seatbelt, but the driver of the car I was in wasn't. His injuries, however, thankfully are minor. He only has minor lacerations on his face, although they did have to break the steering column to get him out of the car, as it was wedging him against the seat.

Me, I sit here with a shiny new set of crutches, and an ace bandage on my leg. What happened when we hit, was, even though I had my seat belt on, my knee caved in his glove-compartment, and my face made slight contact with the airbag, bending my glasses a bit. The thing that got me the most was probably the seat belt.. That thing hurts.

I stumbled out of the car about 4 seconds after we came to a stop, and collapsed about three steps away from the car. Walking was definitely not my strong suit at that moment, I guess. No more than twenty seconds later, I hear an ambulance... Apparently they were at the gas station about 400 yards away.

The driver of the other car sustained minor lacerations, some head trauma, etc... But I talked with him, and he said he's fine.

The scene was a mess though, as Brisby's (My friend) car was totaled. The engine was halfway into the passenger compartment, the front part of the car was virtually torn off, as well as the car was spilling a ton of fluids all over. There was not a single piece of intact glass, either. Everything shattered.

But I am VERY lucky.... I have a knee injury, and that's it. Besides a little bruising in various parts.

A tip to all: WEAR YOUR SEATBELTS. They DO save lives.

Here's a nice little pic of my knee bandaged, and me on the crutches... They cut my favorite jeans apart. :(

I got a pair of crutches last week when I broke my toe. I then proceded to sprain both of my thumbs with them.

Wow, DJ. That really sucks. At least you and everyone else got out of it with fairly minor stuff. :?

Ouch. Were you able to put it in neutral and apply the emergency brake? =/

You're lucky. Thank God you're alive and relatively unharmed.

That's really unlucky, man.

Glad you got out unscathed(relatively, at least).

Happened too fast to really think about the neutral thing, and Brisby was nearly ripping the hand-brake out of the console, as well as stomping the regular brakes to the floor. Nothing happened. :|

Glad to hear that all involved lived through it. How long will you be with the crutches?

Yeah, I can understand how you could forget something like that when you're just freaking out that the regular brakes don't work. =/ Once again, just glad you're alright.
