Alright, I know the Battlesystem and such are more important in this RPG, but there is a growing Bounty Hunter Population, so maybe we can talk about this.

Personally, I've been a bounty hunter for quite some time. And it's alright, I suppose. But since I signed up, I've only been hired for one job. Admittedly, it was a high-paying one, but still. One job.

The problem stems from two things. Noone wants to post bounties. After all, we're not allowed to kill other PC's, so what's the point?

Secondly, there's no other way for us to make money except for that. I didn't even make any money over the Year Between VII and VIII.

Now, I don't know what CMAC want to do about this, but surely there's some way of dealing with it? We could get a weekly wage, which is assumed to be picked up from minor bounties, or we could make our own bounties.

This would work as follows: Each Hunter could embark on their own quest. This would be decided by themselves, and would be entirely their own. They would announce this, and then PM CMAC when they were done. CMAC (Or some other body) could then judge the Hunter's work, the priority of their targets, and from that, award them an amount of credits.

Alternatively, a list could be made of NPC targets with a few short details for RP'ing sake. This might be better, because better hunters could go for better paying targets.

I know I'd support this idea by posting NPC bounties in my various capacities.

NPC bounties are fair, of course. The problem with PCCs, as Fett put it, everyone has legions of bodyguards with small nuclear weapons on their person.

And a lot of people put a lot of work into their character to just let them be killed at the whim of another player for credits.

Part of what sucks about death, Ams, is that life is so much work. So that argument (about putting time into a character just to have them killed) is moot. However, Xaph, I think I have a solution to this problem.

... and it involves a possible new character of mine. Ever hear of The Exchange?

Yes, I'm vaguely aware of a criminal organization that existed thousands of years ago.

When I say NPC, I don't think you guys realize what I'm talking about: completly NPC. For instance, the character giving it is an NPC, and so is the character who wants to be killed. And, since there's no way in hell you could capture or kill a character in this RPG (nevermind CMAC permission, there's still the aformentioned nuclear weapons).

Well, these billion credit bounties ARE pretty stupid. Hell, less than 20,000 was enough to attract hunters from all over the Galaxy.

Actually, if you want the truth, I had a MAJOR BATTLE planned for Zolan...that was going to take WEEKS.

It was CMAC absolute denial of that plan, despite I could work with either the Zolans or the Clawdites, that frakked everything over.

The fact it was a changling world didn't help anything.

So, I was about to kill you and save the credits, but then again, I would not be able to do that either... seeing as every PC is protected and nearly invincible accordingly to the rules.

So I said, Frak it, and gave you the credits and let you be on your way.

Now, if we want to get into technicalities, I never specified how much Ryan sent to your pre-established accounts.

Not exactly. If you'd surrounded him with a dozen destroyer droids and had them turn their sheilds on, then have couple dozen super battle droids waiting around his ship (with additional destroyer droids as backup), he kind of would be forced to godmod, find another way off the planet, stay on the planet, or accept death.

Like I haven't done that before?

VVD was aboard my ship, yet CMAC demanded that I let him go.

I agree.

Character deaths NEED to be allowed. Yes, we need to go through CMAC and we need to ask the character, however, I've asked the character [the player, mind you] and he or she usually denies [obviously] and when I go to CMAC they deny my request because they believe it is unfair.

Ams, it's not just the frakkin' bounties that are being driven up for inflation. We're just getting the short end of the stick.

It's also that when million credit bounties become not all that uncommon, 20,000 credits seems like chump change.

"Hmmm...do I want the 20,000 credit bounty, or the million credit bounty for a job that's not that much more difficult? This should be a no brainer."

If I were to register a new account tomorrow for a moisture farmer with only half a brain, he'd start with 50,000 credits, so no, I'd say 20k isn't really worth it these days.

Well, to be rather plain, CMAC is rather fierce about protecting characters because, to borrow an MMORPG term, a lot of people seem to be PK-ers. How would you feel if some new person just walked up to your character, stabbed them in the head, and killed you? You'd be pretty pissed off, right? Or, even if it wasn't just a new person. Many of you have been here for almost two years. How would you like it if all of that was flushed down the toilet because someone wanted to show off how powerful and special they are?

I mean, hell... a lot of times, people who run around trying to kill other characters flip out to CMAC when they're looking down the barrel of a gun. I'm sorry, but the rules are not changing significantly, especially when it ends up being used as a tool to execute a personal, OOC agenda.

I'm sorry I sound so harsh on it but this is one part of the game I vehemently support. If people could just off any character they pleased, members would drop like flies. If it were based on some kind of power level, you all know perfectly well we'd be seeing more and more superbeings and the like. Hell, several species are banned from use because they're almost invincible.
