"Your main course, sir," said the waiter, setting down a large plate of mixed vegetables arrayed artfully around four large York'shir puddings, each one stuffed with beef. Not waiting to be excused, the waiter glided out of the Saxons' booth.

"Looks smashing, John," said Lucy, sipping her soup delicately. John liked it when his wife ate soup; the shape her mouth made as she tried to consume the hot liquid without seeming unladylike was... stimulating. John nodded and looked down at his plate. His heart skipped a beat. One of the puddings was distinctly low on beef. Chronically low.

Where was the beef?

His beef?

"One moment, muffin," he said, rising from his seat, his napkin still tucked into his belt. He left the main dining room of the Lidington precipitously, and was thus soon able to catch up with the vile proletarian who had served him, walking in a very waiterlike way down a corridor.

"Hey, friend," he hailed, waited for the waiter to turn around and register who it was who was looking at him, and punched him very hard in the throat. Whipping his napkin from his belt, the Master tightened the white cloth and deftly stepped behind the gasping waiter, before swiftly garroting him and depositing the body behind a tasteful crismon drape.

"I hear you wonder," he said, looking down at the unfortunate man's corpse, "What's my beef?" With a chuckle, the Master returned to his booth. Or rather, planned to - he found himself blocked in his access to the dining room by two Imperial Navy officers.

"Come with us, please, sir," they said.

Saxon shrugged, and did so.
